Jane Willoughby is a Dublin based decorative artist specialising in hand painted canvas panels inspired by historical painted decoration.



HOW IT ALL STARTED....

Qualifying first as an Interior Designer,  followed by an honours degree in Art History, Jane Willoughby went on to specialise as a decorative painter. Working for many years in this area she designed and implemented large-scale mural and painted schemes in Dublin town houses, such as' Deepwell',  Country Clubs such as The K Club and Mount Juliet, as well as Private Homes in Ireland and Europe.

Jane's mural work was also featured in 'THE WHITE BOOK', PERIOD LIVING UK, HOUSE AND HOME, IMAGE INTERIORS, THE SUNDAY TIMES and THE SUNDAY INDEPENDENT' Interiors sections.

More recently Jane's Country House in Kilkenny (since sold)  and decorated throughout with  her hand-painted panels was featured in THE SUNDAY TIMES, THE IRISH TIMES,  IRISH HOMES INTERIORS AND LIVING, (Cover story March 2018)  and on Shinawil/RTE's HOME OF THE YEAR 2019.(episode 6)

NOW..........

 Jane no longer carries out on-site mural work and now specialises in hand-painted panels which she creates in her home studio in Shankill South Dublin.

 Recent work reflects her continuing fascination with decorative motifs such as Chinoiserie and Japonisme incorporating foliage, flowers and birds in delicate compositions of muted tones.

Her work is aesthetically pleasing, designed to bring about feelings of peace and calm.

Most pieces are large (unframed canvas panels 120cm  x100 cm  approx) but can be commissioned to any size.

Jane will be holding a solo exhibition of her work , her largest to date,  at the City Assembly House, 58 South William St, Dublin November 26th -29th 2026 !

The beautiful Georgian surroundings of the Knight of Glin room will see an extensive variety of examples of her work  inspired by vintage decorative motifs including Chinoiserie, Japanese prints and Grotesque and French wall paintings. 

Pieces will be available for sale with delivery after the exhibition.
